By downloading, installing, or using Checkmate Protocol ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Sector VII grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not grant ownership of the App or any of its content.

All rights, title, and interest in the App — including source code, game design, graphics and visual assets, UI/UX design, and branding and identity — are owned by Sector VII, except where otherwise stated.
Third-Party Assets
The App uses audio assets from Freesound.org licensed under CC0 (public domain dedication). These assets are used in compliance with their respective licenses. No ownership is claimed over CC0-licensed third-party audio content.
Checkmate Protocol is a chess-based strategy game that may include optional local (LAN) multiplayer functionality. You agree not to:
LAN multiplayer operates over local Wi-Fi or hotspot connections between devices. No central servers are operated by Sector VII.
The App supports peer-to-peer LAN multiplayer connectivity. You acknowledge that:
The App is distributed as a one-time paid application via Google Play. All payments, billing, and refund processing are handled by Google Play in accordance with their policies. Sector VII does not directly process payments or maintain payment information.
Refunds are handled exclusively through Google Play's refund system and policies. We do not control or override refund decisions made by Google Play.

You are solely responsible for any data loss that may occur due to device failure, user action, or external factors.
The App may receive updates including bug fixes, performance improvements, or feature changes. Sector VII reserves the right to modify or discontinue any part of the App at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of those changes.
This license is effective until terminated. Sector VII may suspend or terminate your license to use the App if you violate these Terms, attempt to misuse or reverse engineer the App, or engage in fraudulent or harmful activity involving the App.
Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete all copies in your possession.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sector VII disclaims all warranties, including uninterrupted or error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, compatibility with all devices or systems, and freedom from data loss or save file corruption.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sector VII shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, data loss or corruption, device malfunctions or system failures, loss of progress or gameplay data, or multiplayer connection issues. Use of the App is at your own risk.
The App is intended for general audiences. By using the App, you confirm that you are allowed to do so under applicable local laws. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your country of residence, unless otherwise required by mandatory local consumer protection laws.
The App integrates services provided by Google (Google Play services, including authentication and cloud saves where enabled). These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
